Met Office weather forecast snow: Here are the warnings for your location as the UK prepares for a stormy start to 2025. From today until January 2, the Met Office has issued weather warnings for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
With weather warnings in effect for practically the whole United Kingdom, it appears like the country will be hammered by strong winds, heavy rain, and snowfall in the coming year.
Tomorrow night’s severe winds in northwest England have already forced the cancellation of Blackpool’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.
Here are the predictions for the UK during the next few days, including the beginning of the new year, according to forecasters.

Over the following three days, four yellow weather warnings—including one on Monday, December 30—will be in effect in various parts of England.
The North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales are under a yellow wind alert from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It issues a warning about the possibility of temporary power outages and possible travel disruptions in the area.
On New Year’s Eve, another wind-related yellow weather warning is issued starting at 7 a.m. This encompasses the northeastern region of England, as well as the east Yorkshire town of Bridlington and the northwest region of Carlisle.
It is in effect until 11 p.m. and issues a warning about “strong westerly winds” that may cause travel disruptions on New Year’s Eve.
Then, on New Year’s Day, England is under two warnings.
On January 1, from 7 a.m. to 11.59 p.m., the first, for severe winds, covers southern England and portions of the West Midlands.
Due to considerable rainfall, the second covers a significant portion of the northwest, including sections of Liverpool, Preston, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, and the area north of High Bentham.
From 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 6 p.m. on New Year’s Day, that warning is in effect.
