International Students Can Switch to Innovator Founder Visa in the UK From Nov 25. The UK government has confirmed that starting on November 25, 2025, foreign students studying in the UK would be able to convert to the Innovator Founder visa without leaving the country.
Graduates who have finished their degrees can now pursue entrepreneurship more easily and avoid the travel delays that were previously necessary to apply for this visa.
They can now work for themselves while their visa application is being processed, eliminating a former obstacle. Those who intend to start or manage an innovative firm in the UK are eligible for the Innovator Founder visa. Candidates must be at least eighteen, meet English language proficiency standards, obtain endorsement from an authorised body, and demonstrate they have adequate personal funds. Unless the firm was previously supported or approved after modifications, those launching a new venture must additionally provide proof of financial sources.
Students must demonstrate £1,270 in maintenance funds, have finished their course, and have an endorsement from an authorised entity in order to be eligible. After law revisions in 2024, they are no longer need to show £50,000 in investment capital. If certain requirements are fulfilled, the three-year Innovator Founder visas provide a path to settlement.
Before applying if they are switching inside the UK, applicants must demonstrate at least £1,270 in personal savings for 28 days in a row. The money cannot be obtained by illicit labour or investment capital. Depending on the situation, the visa permits one or more entries for dependents, business operations, and limited studies.

Important adjustments for pupils
In-country switching: Rather than leaving the UK to reapply, students can now apply to move to the Innovator Founder route while still in the country.
Immediate self-employment: After switching, they are allowed to work for themselves while their application is being processed and can begin working on their business right away.

Additional relevant modifications
Graduate Route: PhD grads will still receive three years, however applications submitted on or after January 1, 2027 will only be accepted for 18 months.
