The Home Office has released the latest edition of the ‘Register of Licensed Sponsors – Workers and Temporary Workers’.

The spreadsheet has 128,029 employers allowed to hire Skilled, Scale-up and other sponsored migrants, up 3,150 from the June registration.

The generic salary threshold will rise from £29,000 to £31,500 on 1 September and immigration lawyers expect a rush of Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) assignments in late summer as firms try to grab workers under current regulations.

The revised register therefore provides relocation managers with a current baseline to verify if possible third-party providers and clients have valid permits.

Key Trends

  • Logistics and warehousing sponsors declined 4%, mirroring last year’s limits on utilising the Skilled Worker route for regular HGV drivers.
  • Technology and green-energy firms added the most new licences, preparing for the debut of a special Innovator Founder visa in October.

Practical Tips for HR

  • Download the register and set up an automated alert to notify when a critical vendor loses its licence.
  • Check your own organisation’s grade; licence renewals received after 5 September must include evidence of digital RTW processes linked to the eVisa platform.
  • Prepare template concession letters to indicate sponsor status for assignees who might be questioned by airlines during the eVisa transition.
