SELT Providers 2026 : UKVI has revised its guidance on Secure English Language Tests (SELTs), published a new list of approved exam centers across the world on 5 October.
The update, one of more than a dozen this year, adds five testing sites in India, Nigeria and the United States, while eliminating two sites in Russia that failed recent compliance audits.
Secure English Language Test (SELT) Requirements
Many types of visas including Skilled Worker, Innovator, Start-up, Health & Care and settlement pathways require a SELT.
The advise also informs applicants that only digital score reports will be accepted from January 2027, in line with the Home Office’s wider transition to eVisas.
Impact on Businesses and Sponsored Workers
For businesses this means fewer scheduling obstacles for sponsored workers and their dependants in high-demand cities such as Bengaluru and Lagos.
Mobility managers should review onboarding procedures and confirm recruitment partners are only booking examinations with centers on the new list; utilising an unapproved provider could invalidate a visa application and result in costly re-submissions.
Impact on Education Providers
Education providers will welcome the extra US capacity and it should help cut waiting periods for postgraduate candidates hoping for the January 2027 intake.
However corporate sponsors still need to check that the exam taken is the correct one for the particular Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level required for the route.
Digital SELT Results and UK Immigration Accounts
The Home Office recommends applicants keep digital confirmation of results, since BRP cards will not be supplied after December 2026 and applicants will be required to link test scores to online immigration accounts.
