To study in the UK for free, you can now apply for the Chevening Scholarship. The UK Government’s premier international fellowships and scholarships program will accept applications from August 5, 2025, until October 7, 2025.
Full financial support is provided via Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships to pursue a one-year master’s degree at any UK university or a focused professional development course at a particular university.
Indian nationals who have worked for at least two years after earning their undergraduate degree are eligible to apply for Chevening Scholarships. Chevening Fellowships are rigorous, 8–12 week programs for mid-to-senior level professionals that are sponsored in prestigious UK universities. Through talks, workshops, site visits, and interaction with industry professionals, these fellowships provide an interdisciplinary approach.
With more than 3,900 scholars and fellows benefited since 1983, the Chevening program in India is the biggest in the world, illustrating the UK’s dedication to producing tomorrow’s leaders. When they return home, Chevening alumni use their top-notch education and international connections made in the UK to address global issues or have a real influence on their local communities.
Acting British High Commissioner to India Christina Scott stated:
Chevening honours are very rewarding and quite competitive. For those who exhibit the capacity to lead and make decisions in the future, they create countless opportunities. As I’ve journeyed throughout India, I’ve encountered inspirational Chevening graduates who are changing their communities, creating state policies, creating cutting-edge companies, and influencing public opinion in the political, media, and cultural domains.
It’s great to see so many Indian citizens from rural areas and far-flung states using Chevening to further their academic aspirations in the UK. I urge people to apply for these fellowships and scholarships from all throughout India.
Numerous government and business partners support Chevening in India, demonstrating a shared dedication to developing the next generation of leaders. Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and Nagaland are state government partners.
With the help of business partners like TVS Motors and the Adani Group, more scholarships are awarded. By expanding representation from under-represented communities, tier 2 and tier 3 cities, and preserving equal representation of male and female scholars, these collaborations help guarantee that Chevening continues to reach varied talent throughout India.
